Shot beautifully and paced nicely, The Purpose written and directed by Dimitri Nasennik, captures the tone and coldness of the main characters single purpose and its callousness even in the face of her Freind’s move subtly bringing in the war fatigue experienced by Ukrainians. The effect on those around her is contagious and we are left to ponder is the singleminded purpose she preaches nessasarily a bad thing? The acting in The Purpose is solid, and the sound design is excellent, all in all a great debut by a first time director.

Wonderfully written, this short film showcases meticulous direction in every aspect, from the performances of the actors to the precision of the camera work. It insightfully portrays the experiences of young people, especially ambitious artists, amidst war and crises.
There is true mastery on many levels in this short film, from the acting and thoughtful camera work to the attention to detail. Watching it was a true pleasure, and it leaves me eagerly anticipating what this talented young filmmaker will produce next.
