My journey as a director is still in its formative stages, evolving with every project. It all began during the tumultuous first year of the pandemic when the world seemed to pause. In that stillness, I discovered my source of energy – filmmaking.
In 2023, I took a leap of faith, investing my time and savings into ‘The Purpose,’ a short film that holds a special place in my heart. While it’s not my first venture into filmmaking, ‘The Purpose’ is the first film I’ve chosen to share with audiences at the film festivals. Drawing from my personal experiences, the film delves into the profound value of empathy and explores how individuals driven by their own ambitions can sometimes lose sight of its importance.
Throughout my journey in “The Purpose”, I’ve discovered that my main inspiration lies in working with actors, helping them bring characters to life with authenticity and depth. While I cherish this aspect of my craft, I’ve also come to recognize that writing may not be my strongest suit.
Born in Estonia to a family of Ukrainian immigrants, I embody a unique fusion of two rich and storied cultures. The histories of Estonia and Ukraine share common threads, and I draw inspiration from this cultural duality, infusing it into my work as a director. As I continue to evolve as a filmmaker, I look forward to exploring new artistic horizons and sharing stories that resonate with audiences worldwide.
